Summary, etc. It is the soul-satisfying contemplation of Christ, as described by the Nonconformist theologian John Owen, that J. Stephen Yuille seeks to expound in 'Looking Unto Jesus'. For assistance, Yuille turns to two lesser known Puritans: Thomas Wilcox and Vavasor Powell, his selection based on the fact that both were Baptists by denomination. The author explores how seventeenth-century Baptist piety and Puritan piety intersect at numerous junctures and makes it one of the book's goals to demonstrate this interconnectedness as it pertains to Christ-centred piety. Yuille gives an edition of Thomas Wilco.
